Qualifying times (QTs) are the minimum times a swimmer must achieve in a specific event, age group, and course to be eligible to enter a championship meet. Each competition publishes its own QTs.

How close do I need to be to a qualifying time?

A gap under about 2% is typically achievable within a season for younger age groups. The gap narrows as swimmers reach their mid-teens. Use the calculator above to see your exact percentage gap.
